About Jason

Jason is an Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 7 Executive Coach and Mentor who’s walked in the shoes of leaders. 

 

As an accomplished education professional with over 30 years’ experience working in the UK’s Independent School sector, he knows first-hand the importance of nurturing a thriving culture. 

 

With 23 years as a senior leader, including 17 as a headteacher, he’s perfectly placed to expertly guide you towards your goals.

Driven by a commitment to authenticity and kindness, his work at Jason Whiskerd Educational Consulting is focused on building trusted, long-term relationships that lead to inspiring and sustainable change.

Jason spent 13 years as Head of Brentwood Prep School in Essex, with Headmaster colleague Michael Bond describing him as “utterly professional” and a “calming and serious presence, no matter what the challenge”.

 

Alongside consultancy work for his own clients and those at MTM Consulting and UK Education Guide, Jason is a visiting lecturer and PGCE tutor at the University of Buckingham, an experienced ISI Team Inspector, a respected school governor, and a former board member, district representative, and district chair at The Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS). Jason has also sat on the Finance Committee at the Independent Schools Council (ISC).

 

His work as an educational consultant combines this broad leadership experience with professional coaching and mentoring skills to bring out the best in every client.

A member of the inaugural cohort of the University of Cambridge’s prestigious Better Futures Programme, she brings deep and current insight into curriculum review and future-focused curriculum mapping.

A seasoned educational leader and consultant, Gareth combines strategic vision, regulatory insight, and a collaborative approach to empower schools, leaders, and communities to achieve and sustain excellence. 

 

With 17 years’ experience as Head of two IAPS prep schools, Gareth has chaired the IAPS Finance Committee, carried out over 25 ISI inspections, and gained a holistic understanding of school operations through his governance work. Gareth is also a Reporting Inspector (RI) for the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

Jeff Kayne is a highly experienced Senior Leader and with over 25 years’ experience in education. Most recently he spent 10 years on the Senior Leadership Team - as Whole School Designated Safeguarding Lead - at a very large HMC school in East London (4-18) where he led a team of 13 Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads.

 

Jeff firmly believes in the importance of creating a robust culture of safeguarding and child protection in schools to ensure that keeping children and young people safe is ‘everyone’s responsibility’.  Jeff has considerable experience of all aspects of safeguarding and child protection including self-harm, suicide prevention, mental health, child-on-child abuse, and radicalisation.

 

Jeff is accredited by the NSPCC as a Safeguarding and Child Protection trainer and has significant experience working with other settings delivering training, conducting audits, and delivering supervision to Safeguarding and pastoral leads.
